The Coalition to Save the Marina, Inc., is made up of Marina del Rey and nearby residents, boaters, business persons, community groups and stakeholders in the marina who are dedicated to the preservation and improvement of environmental and recreational resources and to the quality of life in Marina del Rey and adjacent areas. Our purpose is also to preserve and protect the original intent of Marina Del Rey, which is to provide an affordable small craft harbor and provide maximum citizen access to coastal resources. We are opposed to any development that either unnecessarily corrupts the local environment or conflicts with the general public interest and well-being. We incorporated as a non-profit in the year 2000 in response to a growing concern that special interests were starting to overwhelm the public interest in the marina and that the County government was not protecting the public interest adequately.
